Marskgård, now home to a FoodCamp centre

This protected property is from 1823 and is located in the heart of Højer’s town square and is the oldest marsh farm in the area. Marskgård also has a small collection of cultural heritage buildings – including a 200-year-old farmhouse, a barn from the 18th century and a German-inspired house from 1906, which all represent Southern Jutland building styles over generations.

The beautiful old barn and the newly built coach house come together to provide the complete experience of a four-winged farm, both clad in DS Rib Sheet 22-270. This historic steel profile is especially suitable with renovations of old buildings – here the rib sheet, old buildings, German style and thatched farmhouse come together in a harmonious alliance of styles.

Today the property is owned by Realdania By & Byg, whose careful renovation is intended to promote living urban culture. Marskgården in Højer has now become a modern centre in a historic site – now home to one of ARLA Fonden’s FOODcamps, where schoolchildren from all over Denmark come to learn about food in a charming and fun environment with food enthusiasts from Tønder Municipality.
